Operation BarterWings V: A three-day airsoft event hosted by Pegasus MilSim and Spokane DevilDogs

DATE: April 21-23, 2017

LOCATION: Wade Moss' 350 acre ranch in Rice, Washington (https://www.google.com/maps/place/1865+ ... 18.1518693)

COST: $35 // Pre-registration available online January 21.

We are taking this year's Operation BarterWings on the road to Wade Moss' ranch in Stevens County for a three-day spring 2017 event that will include day and night games, a gentleman's duel, drone reconnaissance, blank fire, vehicles on the battlefield and much, much more. And by much, much more I mean 350 acres of field, camping and home cooking courtesy of the Colville Kips gymnastics club (For those that attended they provided food support to Operation Pegasus VIII in 2015).

SITUATION: Our story picks up one week after the events of Operation BarterWings IV, held last spring. Following the coup attempt launched by the Palousian Army Group against the democratically-elected government of Palouse, western diplomatic personnel and their families were evacuated to a Navy amphibious strike group offshore in a non-combatant evacuation operation conducted by a US Marine battalion landing team.

Meanwhile pitched battles between the Palousian Army Group and the Presidential Gendarmerie, backed by private contractors from WorldWide Security, Inc., continue unabated across the capital, the fighting spilling over into the countryside as the government fights to maintain its fragile control and stop the coup attempt.

In the chaos of the evacuation a number of French, British and American tourists were trapped in the small village of Rice northeast of the capital city. Their last contact with the US embassy indicated they were safe and being hosted by local villagers but with the Palousian Army Group in control of the roads in and out of the capital they have no way to get out of the country safely.

Radio intercepts indicate a company of motorized infantry has set up positions in the vicinity of the village, though its not known yet whether or not they are aware there are western civilians

With WorldWide Security Inc. fully engaged fighting the Palousian Army Group and the Navy amphibious strike group transporting evacuees to safe harbor, NATO has stood up a multinational task force, Task Force Cougar, and tasked it with locating and rescuing any western non-combatants in Rice and transporting them safely out of the area.

The warning order and full operations order will be posted in the secure forums (see below) after they go live in January.

TEAMS:
NATO // Task Force Cougar
Backstory: Task Force Cougar is a NATO command and will be run, depending on the size of the force, as either a company (-) or platoon, with a chain of command that all participants will be asked to take an active part in. Alternately referred to as “Team Good Guy,” we're looking for hard chargers that work and play well with others for this task force.
Uniforms: Multicam, MARPAT, ACU, ABU, DCU, Flecktarn, British DPM, CadPat
Weapons: No weapon restrictions

PALOUSIAN ARMY GROUP
Backstory: The Palousian Army Group is made up of a hardcore faction in the army seeking to overthrow the president and establish a military junta. They're not your average run-of-the-mill militia. These are seasoned combat veterans, many of whom have participated in military training in England, Germany and the United States.
Uniforms: Olive Drab, Woodland, Russian
Weapons: No weapon restrictions though Russian, Eastern Bloc, former Warsaw Pact and Chinese models are preferred.

LOCAL VILLAGERS // WESTERN CIVILIANS
Backstory: This group will be smaller than the other two forces so registration will be limited. Additionally, there will be a fair amount of scripted roleplay for this team directed at times by the staff to help further the storyline, so contact Rob – the owner of Pegasus Airsoft – before you sign up for this group.
Uniforms: Mujahideen garb, Track suits, Civilian attire
Weapons: Weapons for this team are preferred to come from Russian, Eastern Bloc, former Warsaw Pact and Chinese models.

Vehicles: If you have a tactical vehicle you want to use on the field during the event, contact Rob. There will be a few vehicles on the field for transporting personnel and there will be two alternate on-field safe areas where parking will be allowed for administrative movement on and off the field.

Aerial Reconnaissance: Wade Moss will provide use of his drone for real-time aerial video reconnaissance of the field to participants during the course of the event.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

How much does the event cost: $35

When does pre-registration start: Pre-registration will start online January 21.

How long is this event: Registration and chrono will be open Friday. The event kicks off Saturday morning and runs through Sunday. For those that are interested, we will also have an optional night game Saturday as well as a 'Gentleman's duel' both Friday and Saturday evening. For the night game, tracer units and tracer BBs are needed. Note this not a 36-hour straight game and we will be breaking for lunch Saturday and overnight Saturday.

Camping and Lodging: Camping and field sanitation (aka Porta Johns) will be available on-site as part of your registration fee. The turn into the camping area is fairly narrow so let us know if you are planning on bringing a truck with a trailer or an RV. If you feel like roughing it in a bed, the nearest motel is 8 miles down the road in Kettle Falls and there are several motels available 18 miles down the road in Colville.

The SUQ: We will have a SUQ (our tradiional buy/sell marketplace we have at Operation Pegasus every year) Saturday evening for everyone that wants to buy/sell/ trade airsoft replicas and equipment.

Gas: The nearest gas station is the Chevron station 8 miles down the road in Kettle Falls. There are several gas stations in Colville.

Food: The Colville Kips will be serving food at this event. The cost is $35 pre-pay through our online store. They will be serving dinner on Friday, all three meals on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. If you're looking to purchase food on your way in to the event, there is a McDonalds, KFC, Taco Bell, Zips and a Subway in Colville, approximately 18 miles from the field. There are also several grocery stores, including a Safeway and a Wal-Mart, also in Colville.

How old do I have to be to attend: You must be 16 years or older. The only exception is if you are under 16 and are escorted on the field at all times by a parent or legal guardian.

Will blank fire be allowed at this event? At this time we do plan to allow blank fire to be used by this event. All weapons must be approved for use by staff prior to the event (contact us before you bring your weapon and ammo), you must have a BFA on your weapon, and all weapons and ammunition will be safety checked by an admin prior to you going on the field.

Will we be able to use pyro at this event? To be determined at a later date. We will need to see how wet the field is before we determine whether or not pyro – to include TAAGS rounds – will be allowed.

Does my waiver from 2016 still count? No, as its a new year you will need to bring with you a new copy of the Pegasus Airsoft waiver for 2017. You can find the waiver here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1C-C ... sp=sharing

Are there event planning groups? Yes there will be event planning groups posted when pre-registration kicks off on January 21.

What are the safety regulations for attending this event? Here are the regulations we use at all of our events: https://www.facebook.com/notes/pegasus- ... 7893623797

Can I bring a DMR? Sure, but it has to chrono at or under 400 FPS. See our guidance on why we don't classify DMRs separately here: https://www.facebook.com/notes/pegasus- ... 8906282029

Can I bring a sniper rifle? Sure, but please check our safety regulations guidance (link posted above) for information on prerequisites for bringing one to the field. Also be advised there will be a limited number of sniper positions available on each team.

Field update:

Lower elevation portions of the ranch (lower 100) is mostly devoid of snow. The higher elevations of the ranch still holds substantial snow pack in most areas (as much as 2 ft). We are also having a late and wet spring with rain and snow.

The forecast for late April is highs in the 50's and lows in the 30's with possible rain/snow mix. More of the same it would seem at this point.
